What is Contract security?
Contract security is security staffing provided by a third-party company that employs the guards and supplies them to clients under a service contract, as opposed to in-house security staff employed directly by the protected organisation.
Also called: outsourced security, guard services company, contract guarding.
Contract security vs in-house security
| Contract | In-house | |
|---|---|---|
| Employer | The security company | The protected organisation |
| Cost model | Billed hourly or per post | Payroll and benefits |
| Flexibility | Scale posts up or down by contract | Slower to change headcount |
| Turnover | Typically higher | Typically lower |
| Site knowledge | Depends on how well post orders are maintained | Accumulates naturally |
Why proof matters more under contract
An in-house team is visible to the organisation that employs it. A contracted team is not. The client sees an invoice and, if they are lucky, a report. That asymmetry is the entire commercial problem of contract guarding, and it is why documentation is a competitive asset rather than an administrative chore.
